Q. How long should a furnace last?
A. If properly maintained the average furnace should last approximately 25 years.
Q. How long should an air conditioner last?
A. If properly maintained it usually lasts 20 years.
Q. How often should my filter be cleaned or changed?
A. This varies so it is best to check it frequently. It is imperative filters are kept clean for both economic and health reasons.
Q. Will I save money if I change my old furnace to a new one?
A. Generally old furnaces operate at approximately 65% to 70% efficiency. So a mid-efficiency (80%) or a high efficiency (90+%) will save you money plus give your more efficient heat.
Q. Will I save money by replacing my old air conditioner.
A. Most older A/C units have a EER rating of 6 therefore you can be assured you will save money on electrical costs.
