Privacy Policy

Who We Are

This Privacy Policy explains how Metropolitan Heating and Air Conditioning Ltd. (operating as Metroheat, "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information through this website and through the heating, cooling and indoor-air-quality services we provide across Scarborough, Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area.

We are a family-owned Ontario contractor founded in 1979. Our registered business address is 20 Venture Dr #17, Scarborough, ON M1B 3R7. You can reach us by phone at (416) 283-5698 or by email at [email protected].

Because we operate in Ontario, this policy is written to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), to Quebec's Law 25 (the Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information) where it applies to Quebec residents who contact us, and to Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Visitors outside Canada — including California residents — are given the additional choices described under "Your Privacy Choices" below.

Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to answer your request and to deliver and support the work you hire us to do. Depending on how you interact with us, that may include:

  • Identifiers you give us: your name, phone number, email address, and the service address where work is to be performed.
  • Service details: the equipment involved, the problem you describe, photographs or documents you choose to send, appointment history, quotes, invoices and warranty records.
  • Employment information, if you apply through our Careers page: your résumé, work history, certifications and licences, and the position you are applying for.
  • Communications: the content of emails, text messages, voicemails and web-form submissions you send us, and our replies.
  • Technical information collected automatically by our hosting and security providers: your IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring page, and the pages you view. This is standard web-server and content-delivery logging.
  • Cookie and consent information: the choice you record in our cookie banner, stored on your own device so we can apply it on later visits.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to respond to your enquiry, prepare estimates, schedule and perform heating, cooling, heat-pump, water-heater and indoor-air-quality work, order parts and equipment, honour manufacturer warranties, invoice you, keep service records for future visits, meet our obligations under Ontario safety and licensing rules, evaluate job applications, and improve the content and performance of this website.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing. We do not use automated decision-making or profiling to decide whether to provide you with service.

Consent, and How You Can Withdraw It

Under PIPEDA and Quebec Law 25 we rely on your consent to collect, use and disclose personal information, except where the law allows or requires us to act without it (for example, to comply with a legal obligation or to investigate a breach of an agreement).

When you submit a form on this site you give express consent for us to contact you about that specific request. Marketing and reminder text messages are governed by a separate, optional, unchecked consent box at the point of collection — that consent is never bundled with your service request and is never a condition of buying anything from us. Under CASL you may withdraw commercial-message consent at any time, and we will action any withdrawal promptly.

To withdraw consent, update your information, or ask us to stop contacting you, reply STOP to any text message, use the unsubscribe link in any commercial email, call (416) 283-5698, or email [email protected]. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide some services — we will tell you if that is the case.

Cookies, Analytics and Advertising Tools

This website uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies and local-storage entries that make the site work — for example, remembering the cookie choice you made so we do not ask again on every page.

As of the date at the bottom of this policy, no analytics container and no advertising container is active on this website. We have nonetheless implemented Google Consent Mode v2 in advanced mode, so that the preference you record in our cookie banner is set before any measurement or advertising tag could ever load. If and when Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager are enabled for this site, your recorded choice will already be in force; we will also update this section to name the tool.

The third-party services that do run on this site today are: Google reCAPTCHA v3, which protects our forms from automated spam and is subject to Google's own privacy policy and terms; the CI Web Group form-delivery service, which receives your form submission and routes it to our team; and the Amazon Web Services and Cloudflare infrastructure that stores and delivers the pages you are reading. Each of these acts as a service provider to us, processes the information for our purposes only, and is bound to protect it.

You can change your cookie choice at any time from the Cookie preferences link in the site footer. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings; strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off without breaking parts of the site.

Your Privacy Choices

This section describes the choices and rights available to you, wherever you live. It is the single place to exercise them.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information — Your California Privacy Rights. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA). We have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding twelve months, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under sixteen years of age.

Categories of personal information we collect: identifiers (name, postal address, email address, telephone number, IP address); commercial information (services purchased, estimates, invoices and service history); internet or network activity (pages viewed and referring pages, from server and content-delivery logs); geolocation only at the level of the service address you give us; professional or employment information, if you apply for a job with us; and the contents of communications you send us. We collect these directly from you, or automatically from your device when you browse, and we keep them for the purposes set out above.

Your rights. Subject to verification and to the exemptions in the applicable law, you have the right to know what personal information we hold about you and how we use it; to receive a copy of it in a portable form; to have it corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete; to have it deleted; to opt out of any sale or sharing of it (we do none); and to be free from discrimination or a degraded level of service for exercising any of these rights. We will never charge you a different price, deny you service, or give you a lower quality of service because you exercised a privacy right.

How to opt out and how to make a request. Use the Cookie preferences link in the footer of any page to decline optional analytics and advertising cookies on this device. We also honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: if your browser or extension sends GPC, advertising signals are denied automatically on arrival, with no action required from you. To make a know, access, correction, deletion, portability or withdrawal-of-consent request, contact us using the details below; we will confirm receipt and respond within the time limits set by the law that applies to you. Canadian residents — PIPEDA. Under PIPEDA you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to challenge its accuracy and have it corrected, to know how it is used and disclosed, and to withdraw consent subject to legal and contractual restrictions. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Quebec residents — Law 25. If you live in Quebec, Law 25 additionally gives you the right to be informed when we use personal information to make a decision based exclusively on automated processing (we do not), the right to request that we cease disseminating your personal information or de-index a link where the law allows, and the right to data portability. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec. Payment Security

We never ask for, collect, transmit or store credit-card, debit-card or bank-account numbers on this website. No page on this site contains a card-number field.

Payments and financing are handled away from our pages by the processor or lender directly — through their own hosted checkout, secure portal or application, or in person at the time of service. Those providers are responsible for their own PCI DSS compliance and handle your payment credentials under their own terms and privacy policies. We receive only the outcome of a transaction (for example, that an invoice was paid), never the underlying card data.

If any page on this site ever appears to ask you for a full card number, stop and call us before entering anything.

How We Share Information

We disclose personal information only to: our own employees and technicians who need it to do the work; service providers acting on our behalf under contract (website hosting and delivery, spam protection, form delivery, email, scheduling, accounting and payment processing); equipment manufacturers and distributors, where needed to register or claim a warranty; and regulators, inspectors or authorities where Ontario law requires it, including in connection with gas or electrical permits and inspections.

We may also disclose information where we are compelled to by law, subpoena or court order, where necessary to establish or defend a legal claim, or in connection with a sale or reorganisation of our business — in which case the recipient remains bound to use it for the purposes described here.

Retention and Security

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, and afterwards for the period required by tax, warranty, safety and limitation-period rules that apply to a licensed Ontario contractor. When information is no longer needed we destroy, erase or anonymise it.

We protect personal information with safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity: encrypted transport (HTTPS) across the whole site, access limited to staff who need it, hardened hosting, spam and abuse protection on public forms, and prompt patching. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security; if a breach creating a real risk of significant harm ever occurs, we will notify affected individuals and the applicable regulator as the law requires.

Children

This website and our services are directed to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Links to Other Sites

Our site links to manufacturers, financing partners, review platforms and social networks. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site, governed by their privacy policy — not this one. We are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our services, our tools or the law change. The date at the top and bottom of this page always shows when it was last revised, and a material change will be highlighted on this page. This version was last updated September 23, 2026.
